MAGGIE LOW'S ACTING CLASS

What I teach is finding what to act in a script. How to collaborate with the playwright, be they dead or alive, by making choices based on the clues in the text. It's a step by step process based on the amount of time you have to prepare i.e. cold reading, 20 min, overnight, or rehearsal process.

We cover the specific tools of script interpretation/audition technique: first moments, tactics, beats, the need, and conflict. These apply to plays, songs, TV, film, voice over and commercials. Having the whole script isn’t the issue. It’s knowing how to get all you can from what’s in front of you, the sides. It’s like filling a pool with water so you’re free to take the plunge!

Advanced character study: Elements in the text help you build a character. We cover the first steps through a complete exploration off text.
