MAGGIE LOW'S ACTING CLASS

What I teach is finding what to act in a script. How to collaborate with the playwright, be they dead or alive, by making choices based on the clues in the text. It's a step by step process based on the amount of time you have to prepare i.e. cold reading, 20 min, overnight, or rehearsal process.

We cover the specific tools of script interpretation/audition technique: first moments, tactics, beats, the need, and conflict. These apply to plays, songs, TV, film, voice over and commercials. Having the whole script isnít the issue. Itís knowing how to get all you can from whatís in front of you, the sides. Itís like filling a pool with water so youíre free to take the plunge!

Advanced character study: Elements in the text help you build a character. We cover the first steps through a complete exploration off text.

You were truly one of the best things that has ever happened to me as an actor and it was an absolute joy to work with you. The positive reinforcement you gave me really helped me grow and I feel more confident than ever.Ē
